The past, the present, and the future. These are all aspects of time, a human construct built to give us a sense of control and purpose in a regimented world, and of all of these, the future is the only one that remains constantly unknown. The future is a hesitant creature, and predictions are a silly thing that mankind has created in an attempt to coax it out of the shadows. Predictions, like mankind, are often wrong, but the few that come to pass keep the practice alive, for mankind thrives on the intoxicating lure of the coincidental, the miraculous, and the illusion of control. The most accurate predictions are the ones that are fleeting impressions of what may be, abstract ideas in mass number, so that virtually any of them could apply to anyone in the world at any given time. That is not to say that there are not a select few that might possess extraordinary insight, but it is arrogant to believe that mankind will ever truly be able to control the future.
